2019-2020: Product Innovation Lab
The Switch N' Spray project was a team-based and hands-on project created in the Product Innovation Lab course at the University of Minnesota. I worked on a team of six people, comprised of different disciplines and ages. We worked together throughout the entire process including brainstorming, idea development, user & market research, prototyping, and final presentations.
cHALLENGE
Create new ways of home cleaning and care that are simpler, easier, and faster with a focus on user experience for the 3M & Scotch-Brite brand.
Practice
Before starting our projects we participated in creative activities including making presentation boards and Arduino practice.
Ideation
Brainstorming, thumbnailing, and idea generation/selection
Concept development
Iteration consisted of different form exploration and ergonomic handles.

Market Research
Although there are other sustainable solutions for spray bottles, The Switch N' Spray concept allows for users to interchange different solutions for the same bottle.
User Research
User research consisted of in-person interviews and a survey to collect general opinions on solutions, price point, and interest in a subscription for refill solutions.
Works like prototype
As part of the exploration process, our team created a works-like prototype to test the feasibility of the concept. The solution cartridge screws into the head of the bottle. The solution and water mix in an internal mixing chamber.
Packaging
The Switch N' Spray was branded to fit into Scotch-Brite's Greener Clean product line. Packaging includes a belly wrap and cartridge boxes for the refillable solutions.
